The new kitchen window, almost

We are putting in a wider window at the kitchen, to bring more light into the heart of the house.

The framers removed the existing single-pane aluminum-frame window — dating back to the original construction of the house in 1968.

Inside the house, Ranserve framed up the opening for the new window. It promises a dramatic transformation.

There’s also a new header over the window opening, framed correctly to carry the load of the second floor, replacing the studs that were drilled through for the original vent stack — drilled through to the point there was very little structural integrity to the remaining wood, which is one reason the second floor dipped above this location.
