Laying brick

We resized several of the front windows with architect Brett Grinkmeyer. We pushed the front entry of the house forward about four feet. We are expanding the kitchen window and taking out the sliding glass door off the kitchen, replacing that double door with one door. Around back, Jadin’s bedroom gets more glass. So we knocked down a lot of brick during demo, stored the good brick on the driveway for re-use — and the masons started rebuilding the front exterior on multitasking day.

Gabriel returned yesterday to continue work on the front elevations, working around the new windows.

Gabriel is back again today, moving his string line higher up the wall, laying course after course of brick.

Here, Gabriel lays the window sill, angling the brick to force water to run off the house and not collect behind the brick.
